1 Star Garbage out of the Box
Purchased spotbot to try and take care of a few small stains. Have heard great things from reviews, etc.. Received spotbot today. Filled up tank with water and cleaner. Plugged it in. No water comes out. None at all.
Complete garbage out of the box…
5 Stars Great for pet owners
We have 6 adult (shedding) cats. Four of them have long hair. We also have 4 kittens who are learning the fine art of using the litter box. Thankfully, they have almost mastered this vital skill! (And yes, I know that 10 cats is a little much.
My point is, we frequently have hairballs or worse on the carpet. Lots of spots. Of various colors and liquids, and occasionally we don’t find them until they have dried.
The SpotBot is the most wonderful cleaning machine EVER! For the spots on the floor (carpet and wood laminate) we put water and cleaner in the tank, put the brush part over the spot, hit the button, and walk off. It makes enough noise to scare the kitties away, but it’s not bad for the humans. When it’s done, you pick it up, and there’s a damp hickey on the floor, but no unwanted liquids. If you scuff the spot with your shoe, the carpet pile stops looking like a hickey. Since the SpotBot sucks up most of the liquid, it dries quickly.
There is also a hose for when a kitty has an accident on the sofa or the stairs. There’s a little more effort involved in cleaning up the spot (you can’t walk away) but it still cleans up quickly and easily.
This works a lot better if you pick up any chunks before using the machine. If the stain has dried, sometimes you have to run the machine twice to get it all, though if the spot is still damp you don’t have to run it more than once. (Hint – if it’s really dry, wet the stain down a bit first.)
This works REALLY well and I would recommend it to anyone who has pets or young children. It’s easy to use. I’d give it 10 stars if I could.
5 Stars Save your fingers and knees!
The Spotbot is absolutely a fabulous little machine. Very compact, but has a decent weight to it. It could get tiring if you have to lug it up and down stairs a lot. However the best thing about it is the quality that it gets stains up.
- You first spray the stain. A small spritzer of water with two squirts of the cleaner fluid that came with it works great — and is a much cheaper alternative to what they say in the directions. I’ll reiterate what other reviews have said: don’t put the cleaning fluid in the water section! Its only going to require cleaning later. =)
- Then you put fresh water into one end of the Bot, and place it over the stain.
- After that you have two buttons: Surface Stain, and Set-In Stain. The surface stain is pretty quick, but the set-in stain takes about 6 minutes. I tend to use the set-in stain more since often I can’t tell the difference.
After “Spotty” is done, you simply pour & rinse out the old water and set him aside for later. In place of the stain you’ll have a nice little ring of dampness. Vacuuming over it or “buffing out” the circle with your toe works well to hide it from curious visitors. If you see any staining still after using him, just spray and repeat. I’ve had a few stains that have taken two set-in stain passes to pull the determined spot out completely.
For maintenance purposes, I find that I have to put in fresh water/dump out old water after every two set-in stain runs. One problem that I’ve found is with cleaning the device. The dirty water container and the hose as well can get very dirty, especially if the old water is left in the accidentally overnight (Yup, it’ll happen at least once). I’m planning on using a bucket of water with bleach to submerge it for a while and see if that doesn’t work, since there’s really no way to clean it out except by submerging it. The directions on cleaning this part of the machine are rather slim as well. The bristles on the other hand stay fairly clean for the most part, and typically you just have to occasionally wipe it down.
In all, I’m very glad to have purchased this as it has saved endless hours of scrubbing on my hands and knees. My cat is very old and regularly does not make it to the litter box for pooing. This little device has greatly helped in keeping the house clean, keeping household arguments down, and letting us have more time to do other things besides cleaning up after him. I would recommend this device for anyone with an older dog or cat, with children, or with friends that make frequent party fouls. =) I honestly don’t know how I did without it for so very long.
5 Stars Helps you be a parent, not a cleaning lady.
I’ve never written a review before but after tonight when both my daughters threw up at the same time, I just had to do it. I have had this product for two years now, originally purchased as a refurbished item through Amazon. As the parent of a three and one year old, this product is true a lifesaver. It’s not an appliance–it is a parental aid. Throw-up? No problem whatsoever. The lovely thing is that you can just set and go, and tend to your crying little one. Why have to choose between a child who is crying because she just threw up and having to clean a big stain on the rug? I will tend to the child first, knowing that the spot bot will make the stain disappear when she is clean, bathed and no longer upset. Potty accidents? It’s a lot easier to be patient and encouraging when you know that you don’t have to be on your hands and knees cleaning up the mess afterwards!
5 Stars Does the job
Happy with the product. We have a rescue dog that still has an accident every now and then and this does the trick. I have read that people complain that it leaves a circle on the carpet but as long as your carpet is pretty clean that shouldn’t be an issue.
