3 Stars Terrific cleaner, awful mop!
So first, the good: I love the cleaner. I have an older house (1940) with original hardwoods. The hardwoods go through the entire house, and this cleaner was terrific. The wood looked conditioned, brighter, and clean. No film or streaky residue- I am very pleased with the cleaner. Five stars for that!

Now the bad: the mop is AWFUL. Just terrible. It is, as other reviewers stated, flimsy. That wasn’t my main gripe, though. The pole for the mop is ridiculously short. I am petite- just under 5′3″, and I had to hunch over to use it. My back burned by the time I was halfway through cleaning the floors. The pad that comes on the mop is good. I got a bit creative and used rubber bands to attach the Bona pad to a dry mop I already own. It’s a bit of a pain, but it works. If the Bona people are reading this, this kit would be 5 stars if you could just improve that mop handle! The cleaner itself rocks.

The broom is cheaply made. After the third use the broom fell apart. I had to tape it together because the plastic connecting piece broke. Then, when I tried to remove the micro-pad for washing, the velcro strip not only separated from the pad, it also came off the broom.

I went to Home depot and bought a real broom.

I’ve tried to be positive about this, tried to keep an open mind and gracious attitude, but I’m finally at my wit’s end.

First of all, the original product that they sent didn’t work. The mechanism to shoot the spray didn’t engage the bottle of cleaner–the core function of the unit. The company that I bought it from through Amazon (Polstein’s Home and Beyond–now Floorcleaners, I believe) wanted me to send it back, but it’s impossible to disassemble after the two halves have been put together, so it’s impossible to actually send back if it’s defective.

After a few calls and a few emails, Bona sent me a replacement. This also didn’t work. I eventually convinced them to send me one and have them walk me through the assembly step by step to make sure I wasn’t doing anything wrong. I should mention at this point that I’m not someone who typically has problems assembling things. I went step by step through the assembly process (I even offered to hook up my webcam, but the technician was sure it wouldn’t be necessary.

No dice. Didn’t work.

I finally convinced them to send me a unit assembled and tested.

Sadly, that’s not the end of the problem. The bottle of cleaner comes loose from the unit if you move the mop too quickly. After all the trouble I went through to get a unit that actually gets the spray to work, I can’t get the bottle to stay on.

For the amount of time and aggravation I’ve spent on it, I might as well get on my hands and knees and wash the floors with a rag. This is the worst product of its kind I’ve ever encountered and a perfect example of a company who has a wonderful core product (I love my Bona floors) expanding into an area in which they have no expertise resulting in a product that does their brand more harm than good.

Do yourself a favor and stay far far far away from this product.

I just had hard wood floors put in throughout my house. After sliding on the floors due to the other wood floor greasy products, I tried Bona Kemi after reading several reviews. What a great product! My floors look wonderful and they are not slick. Love this.
